St. Joseph’s press is the first catholic printing establishment in Kerala (Malabar) started in 1846 by St Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Fr. Chavara established the press foreseeing the spiritual, cultural and intellectual advantages which the press and publication would bring to the community. St Joseph’s Press was the third in Travancore but was the first one to be set up under private ownership in the country.
